◐ Rhea and The Boar

Shared among this particular branch of the Jhungidi bloodline, there is an endearing tale surrounding how this 'sprout' came to be. The greater details tend to vary, depending on whom among the many siblings are asked, but the common thread is that the sire of this collective happened upon a young female buried up to her neck in the virgin soil of the Steppe Plains. The sire only happened upon her because he believed - having glanced her from afar- that she was a rare from of Rhea, given the brilliance of her cropped, stark lavender mane.Such practices of burying were not uncommon on the Steppe, however, it -was- strange when one voluntarily buried themselves-- leaving no means of surfacing should it be needed. Believing the young woman was simple in mind, he had meant to leave her in the 'bed' she'd made for herself. Yet, her contented expression and seemingly carefree disposition compelled him to keep watch of her... to at least witness what was meant to come from this happenstance.They conversed at length, speaking about this and that seemingly without a care in so wild a place. The only instance he strayed from her side was to either hunt for himself or to fend off curious fodder (that likely assumed the rooted female was a bushel of Rhea as well). Only a day passed like this, from the afternoon light to its mirror on the following day, before the sire finally thought to uproot the 'sprout' from her bedding. At first she refused (as expected. For why would someone voluntarily place themselves in the ground unless they -wanted- to be there), but with some coaxing- and promise of having a new bed of fresh soil to lounge in- she allowed herself to be freed from the earth and took the hand of the sire, both in journey and courtship.As it turned out, the female was two parts blessed and one part cursed, having been adorned from birth in deep obsidian and verdant scales. Her earthy skin was also flecked in this likeness, possessing the female an almost ethereal quality, of which the sire would have been a fool to ignore. However, among many tribes of the step, to deviate from the Blessed visage of Nhaama, intentional of otherwise, was viewed as an affront and thus warranted shunning from the soul's respective tribe. Having been one such unfortunate soul, the female resigned herself to 'return to the earth' that she may be reborn by The Mother's blessing... only to be thwarted by this curious sire.Having regarded her affliction as beautiful rather than damning, he was more of a mind to extend his hand to the 'earthborn' Xaela, rather than to let her wither... Though what became of their years after varied from child to child among the sire's line. All that could be said with certainty was that only one young was born from them. A little female with striking obsidian and verdant scales-- with a tendency to bury herself in fresh soil on any and all occasions-- and tended to be followed by all manner of earthbound souls.
